Belleville police arrested two men from Quebec on Wednesday, February 5, following an alleged attempt to defraud a local car dealership.
According to authorities, the investigation began on Monday, February 3, when employees at the dealership became suspicious of a customer attempting to purchase a vehicle over the phone. The suspects were taken into custody without incident (Belleville Police Service, 2025).
A 61-year-old male and a 31-year-old male, both from Quebec, have been charged with fraud over $5,000, identity theft, personation, and uttering forged documents. Both remain in custody pending a bail hearing (Belleville Police Service, 2025).
