SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN EFFECT | SOUTHERN ONTARIO

Hello Folks, we are in for some nasty weather this afternoon moving into this evening. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued by Environment Canada for much of Southern Ontario. There are multiple cities and municipalities that should expect extreme weather and harsh conditions from thunderstorms evolving in our areas.

The weather report reads the following " issued at 4:16 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel-size hail and heavy rain. This cluster of severe thunderstorms is located from Corbyville to Orland, moving southeast at 40 km/h. Hazard: Nickel-size hail. Locations impacted include: Belleville, Trenton, Consecon, Rednersville, Victoria, Ameliasburg, Melville, Corbyville, Rossmore and Demorestville and more

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm. Stay safe out there today folks and if you have to drive, drive with extreme caution and make sure to give yourself extra braking distance.
