CROWE VALLEY WATERSHED — April 4, 2025
The Crowe Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA) has issued an immediate Flood Warning affecting numerous municipalities within its watershed. Triggered by heavy rainfall on April 2 and 3 and ongoing rapid snowmelt, rising water levels are posing a significant threat to low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The warning is in effect as of 10:00 a.m., April 4, and will be updated on April 7 or sooner if conditions change.
Towns and Areas at Risk
The CVCA is warning residents across several municipalities to prepare for possible flooding and exercise extreme caution:
Trent Hills – particularly the area where the Crowe River flows into the Trent River
Marmora and Lake – including the Village of Marmora and nearby Beaver Creek
Havelock-Belmont-Methuen – areas adjacent to Belmont Lake and Crowe Lake
North Kawartha, Wollaston, Limerick, Tudor and Cashel, Faraday, and Highlands East – especially properties near Paudash Lake, Chandos Lake, Wollaston Lake, St. Ola (Limerick) Lake, and Steenburg Lake
Stirling-Rawdon – especially along any tributaries feeding into the Crowe River system
Waterways in these communities, including the Crowe River, Beaver Creek, and the North River, are currently experiencing rapidly increasing flows that could lead to serious flooding in vulnerable areas.
Public Safety Advisory
The CVCA is urging residents, local governments, and emergency services in these towns to take all necessary precautions. Families are specifically advised to:
Keep children and pets away from all waterways
Avoid dams, weirs, hydro plants, and bridges, where fast-moving water creates dangerous conditions
Stay off ice-covered lakes and rivers, as melting ice is extremely unstable
Ongoing Monitoring and Emergency Support
The CVCA will be monitoring water levels and flow rates 24/7 throughout the warning period. Their office remains open around the clock to respond to public concerns. For immediate assistance, contact:
Tim Pidduck, General Manager
Neil McConkey, Water Resources Supervisor
at 613-472-3137

This warning applies to a large portion of eastern Ontario's rural lake country, and local residents are urged to take it seriously as conditions are expected to worsen over the next 48 hours.
