Belleville, ON – Belleville Transit is currently experiencing technical difficulties with its debit and credit payment system, impacting passengers who rely on cashless payments. The issue, stemming from a malfunction in the Moneris payment processing system, has left riders needing to find alternative methods of payment.
One local rider expressed frustration over the situation:
"I rely on my debit card for everything, so when the system went down, it really threw me off. I don’t always carry cash, and needing exact change is an added hassle during my daily commute."
Belleville Transit has acknowledged the technical issue and is working closely with Moneris to resolve it. In the meantime, riders are advised to carry cash or purchase transit passes until the system is restored.
The transit authority has not provided a specific timeline for when the problem will be fully resolved but has assured passengers that updates will be made available as progress continues.
